Cricut | Cutting Machines
For Cricut’s first CO2 laser cutter, the Cricut Laser Pro, I focused on creating not just a powerful tool but a beautiful statement piece. Housed in a sleek, meticulously designed sheet metal enclosure, the 60-watt Class 1 laser cutter combines precision engineering with a modern aesthetic. The robust metal exterior ensures durability while maintaining a refined, professional look that complements any workspace. This blend of form and function elevates the user experience, making it a standout addition to Cricut's lineup.

Forming the Enclosure
Crafted from 16-gauge sheet metal, the enclosure was precisely formed using a hydraulic press to ensure strength and a sleek design, with complex curvature continuous corners achieved throughout. Blind PEM studs and standoffs minimized visible fasteners, while robotic laser welding provided seamless, durable joints, enhancing the clean, modern look.

A Flawless, Durable Finish
After solving the challenges of forming and welding, the enclosure was powder-coated in Cricut’s signature white. This durable, flawless finish not only gave the enclosure its modern, on-brand appearance but also ensured that it would stand up to the rigors of everyday use.

Easy Maintenance
We designed the exhaust fan for easy removal and cleaning with a tool-free, quick-release mechanism. This allows users to effortlessly access the fan for maintenance, ensuring optimal performance while aligning with Cricut's user-friendly philosophy.

An innovative magnetic target was developed to simplify the realignment of the laser. This design allows users to easily position and secure the target, ensuring precise alignment with minimal effort, enhancing the overall accuracy and usability.
